In short
On 28 Oct 2026, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) released revised Maximum Retail Prices (MRPs) for 543 brands of anti-cancer medicines. The new prices take effect from 9 November 2026. The list reflects company filings up to 27 Oct 2026 and will be updated as more manufacturers submit prices (PIB, 28 Oct 2026, 6:44 PM IST). This follows NPPA's 17 Oct 2026 trade-margin rationalisation on 137 non-scheduled anti-cancer drugs, capping trade margin at 30% (PIB, 17 Oct 2026).
What happened
- 17 Oct 2026: NPPA undertook Trade Margin Rationalisation (TMR) for 137 non-scheduled anti-cancer drugs. Trade margin is capped at 30%. Revised prices were to take effect from 9 Nov 2026. Manufacturers had to inform NPPA of revised prices within 7 days of the Gazette (PIB, 17 Oct 2026).
- 28 Oct 2026: NPPA published revised MRPs for 543 brands. The list will be updated continually as more filings arrive (PIB, 28 Oct 2026).
- Consumers can check prices on the Pharma Sahi Daam app and the NPPA website (PIB, 17 Oct 2026; nppa.gov.in).

Not every brand gets cheaper
Reporting that analysed the same NPPA list says some costly innovator / single-source brands show no MRP change, even where biosimilars or generics of related drugs fell (Business Standard, 28 Oct 2026). The trade-margin cap limits what the supply chain can add; a brand already within the cap may not drop.
How to check a medicine before / after 9 Nov
- Note the generic name, strength, dosage form and pack size on your strip or vial.
- Check Pharma Sahi Daam or the NPPA site for the revised MRP (PIB, 17 Oct 2026).
- From 9 Nov 2026, retailers and hospitals must charge the reduced prices and display them (PIB, 17 Oct 2026).
- If the shelf price is above the revised MRP, keep the bill and complain (see below).
- Talk to your oncologist before switching brands. Price is not a reason to change treatment on your own.
Telangana: where to complain
The Drugs Control Administration, Telangana lists a toll-free number 1800-599-6969 on its official contacts page (dca.telangana.gov.in Key Contacts, accessed 29 Oct 2026). DCA materials also say the line runs 10:30 AM–5:00 PM on working days for suspected spurious / fake medicines and related complaints. Local Drugs Inspector contacts are on the same site.
