How to ask for or offer help in a Soshyal room, safely

A painted lane where neighbours seen from behind pass water pots to one another, above two checklists for asking and offering help, a safety checklist, and an emergency note with the official numbers 108, 102 and Tele-MANAS 14416.

Asking for help

  • Say what you need and by when, for example water storage tips for an elderly neighbour, or a lift to a cooling space.
  • Give your area, not your full address.
  • Post an update when it's sorted, so others know.

Offering help

  • Say what you can offer, where and when.
  • Only offer what you can really do.
  • For health questions, point people to official advice, such as MoHFW's heat advisory, rather than giving medical advice yourself.

Keep it safe. These are Soshyal's own tips for the room:

  • Don't post phone numbers, bank details or OTPs in the room.
  • If you meet someone to help, meet in a public place or bring someone you trust.
  • Before you share a fact, check it against the source and date printed on the poster.

Emergencies. A room is not an emergency service. Call 108 or 102 for an ambulance, as listed in MoHFW's heat advisory. For mental health support, Tele-MANAS (MoHFW) is on 14416.

The official rooms are co-hosted by @soshyal.care and @soshyal.team, which carry a "Soshyal team" label.
