Jio IPO is "fully subscribed". Does that mean it's closed? (No.)
In short. "Fully subscribed" only means bids have crossed the number of shares on offer. Bidding for the Jio Platforms IPO stays open until 5:00 PM IST on Friday, 23 October 2026. If more retail investors apply than there are shares, SEBI rules give each lucky applicant at least one lot (12 shares), picked by a draw of lots.
Why this page. People often confuse “fully subscribed” with “closed”. One public post that sparked that confusion (21 Oct 2026): View on X.

What "fully subscribed" actually means
Subscription = shares bid for / shares on offer, counted separately for each investor category. "1x" means demand equals supply; "3x" means three times as many shares were bid for as are on offer. It does not stop new applications. Bidding continues until the closing time.
Example: by 11 am on 22 Oct 2026 the issue was 3.47x subscribed overall, with qualified institutional buyers at 9.42x, non-institutional investors at 2.34x, the Reliance shareholders' quota at 2.06x and employees at 1.61x (Indian Express, 22 Oct 2026). Treat these as as reported at that time, not live numbers.
How retail allotment works when it's oversubscribed
Under SEBI's rules for public issues, no retail individual investor is allotted less than the minimum bid lot, subject to shares being available in the retail category; any remaining shares are allotted proportionately. When there aren't enough shares to give every applicant one lot, the applicants who get a lot are chosen by a draw of lots (SEBI ICDR Regulations 2018, Schedule XIV; General Information Document for public issues, Section 7).
What this means for you: in an oversubscribed retail category, applying for more lots in the same application generally doesn't improve your chance of getting the first lot. Nobody can "guarantee" allotment.
If you choose to apply (before 5:00 PM IST, 23 Oct 2026)
- You need a demat account in your own name, linked to your PAN.
- Bid through your broker app or your bank's net banking (ASBA).
- Use a UPI ID on a bank account in your own name. Third-party UPI IDs or bank accounts are rejected (SEBI investor site).
- Approve the UPI mandate in your UPI app before 5:00 PM IST on the closing day.
- The money is only blocked, not debited. It's debited only if you get shares; otherwise it's unblocked (SEBI investor site).
Retail UPI applications are limited to Rs 5 lakh per application (SEBI investor site).
How to check allotment (from 26 Oct 2026)
- Registrar: KFin Technologies, https://ipostatus.kfintech.com/ (search with PAN, application number, or DP ID/client ID).
- Also on the BSE and NSE websites.
- SEBI's T+3 timeline: allotment is finalised by T+1, money is debited or unblocked and shares credited on T+2, and listing is on T+3 (SEBI circular SEBI/HO/CFD/TPD1/CIR/P/2023/140, 9 Aug 2023; Jio dates above).
Watch out
- Anyone promising "sure allotment" for a fee is not following SEBI's process. Allotment is by the rules above.
- Read the offer document's risk factors before deciding. This page explains the process only.
What you can do
- If you still want to apply: finish the UPI mandate before 5:00 PM IST on Friday, 23 October 2026.
- Use only your own demat, PAN, bank account and UPI ID (ASBA). Third-party accounts are rejected.
- From 26 Oct 2026, check allotment on KFin (ipostatus.kfintech.com), BSE or NSE — not on random “allotment tip” sites.
- Share this page so friends don’t confuse “fully subscribed” with “closed”.
- Share this with friends who may think the IPO already closed
